Well... first of let's see... I ended up with two deaths in my family that were quite close to me. The first, the oldest sister of my dad- so my aunt. It was quite a shock for everyone to hear about her death. I have many fond memories of her all through my life. The second was my only first cousin on my mom's side. He was 10 years older than me and we were the only children of my mom and her sister. Now that leaves only me. His death was extremely sudden and unexpected. Mainly because he decided to take his own life. Previously for about 10 years prior- he moved to Spain and never returned. He also discontinued contact through any means with his family here in the states.

Needless to say, those two events alone threw my world into chaos and depression.

I signed up for two crafting groups that are both 3 months long and this was the second month of HPKCHC and the first month of Nerd Wars. I let down both groups because I really just haven't felt like knitting much. In fact I have been unable to complete the minimum requirements of one project a month for both. I feel really bad about this but this entire month I get up- go to work- come home- and just feel like going to bed. I have cast on a few things but I just ended up frogging and trying to restart. I apologize to all in both groups for the disappointment. The other thing is I have not been on Ravelry much this month. I am usually one to get on and check things once at a minimum or sometimes twice a day. This month, I have probably only been on a total of 10 times.

My aunt's funeral was towards the beginning of the month and it was nice being able to see all of my dad's remaining brothers and sisters (now a total of 13 including him). My cousin's memorial was this past Sunday and it felt like this whole month has been about mourning.

I am hoping that July will be much better and I am ready to move past things.

The fantastic lot I received from Ladymay!!! I was super exited with everything that I kept pulling from the box. Thank you so very very much. See below for detail and descriptions.

A wonderful knitted cowl. I love the stitch pattern and buttons. It is in a lovely blue and super warm. I received a skein of yarn that matches the cowl's yarn. I think I will knit a hat to go with the cowl. A lovely skein of several blues from Sockotta. Two fantastic skeins on the colorway New York from J. Knits which is a lovely deep inky blue. All of the yarn is so lovely and I am really enjoying the cowl.

Yummy treats!!! The package is hidden but, yes those are Jammy Dodgers!!! Perfect in case I need to try and fool some Daleks. Gummy Bears aka Jelly Babies ;) they taste great. Chocolate- "aaaahhhh" - sooo heavenly. I thoroughly endorse that all need to try.

Doctor Who Stuffs!!! A bag from the Doctor Who Experience! I am completely jealous. 10th Doctor action figure from the final episodes for DT :( He has cuts on his face and suit- poor doctor. Doctor Who book!!! I am really looking forward to reading this. Doctor Who magazine which is so bright and has lots of activities and great pictures. A Tardis bank! That is so going on my desk. It is too cool. A Doctor Who comic book. I am going to have to head to my local comic store and look for back issues of this series- I completely missed this in the store. Last but certainly not least- a Tardis pen- look at the adorable Tardis topper!!! Barely visible above the Tardis bank is an expanding Dalek cloth. Missing from the lot are two Van Gogh postcards that were sitting behind me while I was taking pictures.

Hair clips- closest to my favorite of Gerber daisies without the evil pollen. There are actually 3 but one had already been borrowed and left the house before the picture was taken.

OMG!!! This is awesome!!! It is a flogger that has strands over 2 feet long and it is all made from recycled bike tires. I can't wait to hear the noise it makes and see the aftermath.

ROPE!!! Fabulous rope and it even comes with its own blindfold. The rope is really nice and soft. Perfect for the bindings that you want to have someone stay but not be completely uncomfortable.

Toy! Waterproof vibe. Squee! It looks great... now I just need to get some AAA batteries. Plenty of AA in the house but not AAA.

Okay so I just took a bit of a nap and while sleeping I was dreaming that the song 'Sway' by Coal Chamber was playing - lyrics and all, it was like I was actually listening to the song while sleeping... but I wasn't. In fact I have not heard that song in a bit yet I woke up with the lyrics and music of the song going through my head.

I was outside dancing in jeans and a tank top, it was dark out, I had no shoes on because I could feel the ground with my bare feet. There was a bonfire off in the distance a little. And I was dancing with Jensen Ackles (Dean from Supernatural). Yeah... do you get why I am kind of in love with this dream? (Well I totally was before Jensen anyways too.)

So he is completely spinning me across the ground as an awesomely kick-@$$ dancer can. It was like I was mirroring his actions and it was more of a game of cat and mouse that just seemed to flow so well to the music. Oh if only I could find a guy (that's not gay) to dance like that with me in real life I would love it. So yeah... completely odd and off the wall dream but love the music and "cast".

* that was not a hit against gay men. I <3 you all. But I want to dance like that with a straight man the same way that you would prefer to dance with another guy over a chick with boobs (eek! Thanks Nick ^_^).

Woe is Me

Well I just got some wonderful (being sarcastic here) news. I have 3 higher education degrees. A BFA in Fashion Design, a BA in Merchandise Management, and an MBA in Operations Management. Sounds good right? Sadly, the job market sucks. I have little to no experience. The only job I have actually been able to land has nothing to do with my degrees and it was with the help of a family friend who works at the place. It is quite true: it's not what you know, but who.

Moving on...

I am now saddled with a lot of debt, and I really do mean A LOT!!!

This job I will be starting next month comes with a decent salary, especially for a job out of college but is nowhere near "great". When all of my loans come in (majority are due in September, 2 more in October, and 2 more in December) I will be paying almost $2,250 in loans!!! That is absolutely fabulous since I will be making enough to live on at roughly $2500 each month. So that leaves me with a whopping $250 to pay for rent, credit cards, utilities, gas, food, any medical or vehicle expenses, and anything else that might happen during the month. My student loans will be sucking up around 90% of my income each month.

I am more than willing to take monetary donations. As it sits right now my life really, truely, absolutely SUCKS.

I have not traveled by any train other than commuter or metro, L, or subway. Date night at the movies...

I prefer movies that are action packed or even thrillers as opposed to romantic movies. One thing that I absolutely cannot stand are people that talk about the movie DURING the movie.
Instead, I love going to a movie and then going out to eat or something else afterwards and then chatting about the movie.

I love action and thriller movies because of the constant movement and progression. Romantic movies, I find, are too slow and quite sappy and I tend to get bored while watching them. While this might be something I might enjoy with my significant other, it is not something that I would want to see with someone I am getting to know.

My ideal date movie examples are movies like Transformers, Iron Man, The Transporter, etc.

Breaking Dawn Package Has Arrived :D

Time for squeeing!!!

I got my package from Georgiana and everything is so fantastic! :)

She sent me information guides for Washington! I am going to be looking these over repeatedly because I would love to end up in that neck of the woods after I finish my schooling in a few months. And look closer at all of those pressed flowers and greens. That is a bookmark from the woods in Forks!!! I looooooovvvvve it so much! Totally click on the picture to see it closer it looks amazing!

On to more goodies :) A wonderful embossed journal that has a lovely celtic knot design. A book on Jacob ::swoon:: (he's so young but too adorable). And a little twilight calendar to last me throughout the year and then some ;) And look at the YARN! The flash on the camera distorted the colors but it is a lovely blend of greens and browns and made custom by Stitch Jones! I also got some matching stitch markers which are some of the coolest crackled beads that I have seen.

Here is a better look at the gorgeous pattern on the journal! It is just so beautiful :D

Yummy nummies! Pumpkin cookies! How awesome is that!!! I was so surprised to see those in my package :) I love pumpkin anything and they do taste fantastic. I also got some household favorite candy pumpkins. They got opened right away by my mom ;)

Wonderful patterns. Jacob's La Push hat, the twilight tote, and Team Jacob (or Edward) bag design. I just learned how to knit again after not doing so for quite a long time. I can't wait to make these :)

Here is the lovely bag that I received! Go Team Jacob! I love it so much!!! And it is lined with a beautiful green fabric to match the ribbon :) I can't wait to use this bag when I go out :D

So today after getting some texts from my boyfriend and replying, he sent me an email and dumps me! I'm sorry, I find this humorous. And to top off the email (who really dumps someone in an email), he dumps me only a few days before we have been together for a year. Oh well. I am not surprised by this happening. He didn't want to visit me where I ended up moving to (an hour away) and I am allergic to the dog that inhabits the place he is rooming. And throughout the months since I had moved I saw an increasing amount of douchey behavior on his part. Whatever, I am done and have moved on.

As my friend says now I can peruse to gain more man-bitches ;)

Babies Out For a Stroll

The above pictures are of my adorable Wolf. She is missing part of her tail due to an injury that happened long before I adopted her. Over the years her tail started looking worse and par of it had to be removed. If we didn't get it surgically removed, she could have died. She has made some good adjustments to being not as long as she once was.

I was sad when I saw the post's server was down for tracking owls earlier today... thankfully that got fixed! I checked that it was out for delivery and I ended up meeting the owl that delivered a fantastic package from Andromeda Finch-Fletchley!!! :D

After I did my "I just got a package" happy dance, I continued to squee as I unpacked all of the goodies that she had sent.

Now I have more insight into where she lives. I would love to be able to relocate to the Pacific Northwest :) Andi sent me a beautiful postcard of Mt. Hood, a local paper that she receives, and two wonderful travel and trip planners.

Andi, how did you get ahold of my school ID? ;)

Now I am an official student! Look at the fantastic journal that she sent with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named (Potter is on the other side) It is filled with useful lined pages for spells and grids for designing some patterns. I also got a great sticker book filled with scenes from the movies. And what could set my needles and hooks off better than some Slytherin squish pads (help with gripping and comfort) and end protectors!

Look at the adorable snakie that she sent! I can't wait to see how Zeus, Athena, and Hades (my snakies) get along with him. Unfortunately he already took up guarding the candy that she sent, an adorable tin of candy mints, gummy brains and vampire fangs and candy corn... and chocolate covered candy corn!

Look at these adorable Slytherin snakie fingerless gloves that she sent!!! I have been coveting the pattern for awhile now! I absolutely love them. The camera does not do the green justice. I can't wait to wear them out and I am sure I will get tons of compliments :D

Squee!!!

Okay so I did find something to make me squee!!! I just got a shipment of bare yarn for me to dye :) It's so soft and fluffy and I can't stop squeezing it. I can't wait for it to to be dyed and all purrty ;) pics to come later.

This pic is from HRH Queen Frysia's RAoK that I sent her. On the left is a light spruce (sage) color that I dyed for her package. I have dyed other skeins as well but they are for a gift that has not been received yet.

My Two Pythons

This is Zeus. My 8.5 year old male Ball Python. He is quite an affectionate snake. He is also quite the escape artist but tends to not wander as far as Athena. If Zeus gets out you only have to look as far as the nearest closet. He has been found in the bathroom closet on a few occasions.

This is Athena. She is quite a bit larger than Zeus. (Female snakes are usually larger than the males. She enjoys climbing and socializing. In the past she has gotten herself stuck in the console of my car and disappeared for a few months. We had no idea where she had gone until we heard some things getting nocked down in the kitchen. She decided to take up residence behind the dishwasher for awhile.

Yay!!! The skull potholders are finally posted. They have been done for quite some time but it took some hunting to find the cable to hook up my camera so I could upload the pictures.

Tonight I am gifting these along with the two sets of skeleton bride and groom to my friend.

An Added Project

My mother had planned on making a baby blanket for one of her friend's daughter's baby. Unfortunately my mom has "her own" crochet technique. It looks okay but she has a really loose tension so the few rows she had completed were bowing out and not uniform. My mom works hard and doesn't have a great amount of spare time. So, I decided to take to task upon myself. Am I too kind or just masochistic. The HSPS swap has just begun so I am trying to get this blanket done asap. I will post a picture of the lovely blanket once it's done.

UPDATE----

The blanket has been done for awhile, but I just got the pictures taken. In excess of the blanket (because I had so much fun with the yarn) I decided to make a hat and a little stuffed turtle to accompany the blanket.

A Few of My More Recent Projects

*These cute little guys are going to belong to a girl that I went to school with. She is getting married later this year. When I showed her the book that has this pattern she wished she could make them but she doesn't know how to crochet.

*I made the larger set out of cotton and the smaler set is made of merino wool. The larger ones are the perfect size for a cake topper while the smaller size are great for a little keepsake.

I am also in the progress of making her a couple of pot holders that have skulls on them. I love the simple pattern from the Stitch 'n Bitch book - The Happy Hooker. I will post pictures as soon as I have them finished. Hopefully I will get some good pics of my friend with them when I give them to her. :)

*I crocheted this snowman for my godmother that collects snowmen. You name it, she probably has something with a snowman on it. No, she likes them but she's not quite to that point.

*I wanted to make something for her to bring a smile to her face. Unfortunately she had recently gotten the horrifying news of more brest cancer and has since gone through with a mastectomy surgery. She is currently adjusting to life after her surgery and is healing. She is happy that she doesn't need chemo or radiation treatment this time around.

*She was thrilled with her little snowman. Even a month after I made it for her, I am told she is still bragging to all of her friends, as well as my mom, about how cute it is.
The pattern for this snowman came from the Lion Brand Yarn website.

*Another project that I was working on was a Brain Slug like the ones found on Futurama. Forgot use the garlic shampoo. ;) This one was so cute and I had all intentions of keeping it for myself. Unfortunately I made the mistake of finishing it while we were celebrating xmas at my parents. My aunt who loves anything alien like was oohing over it so that is who now has this little brain slug.

Ahh... The Joys of Being Sick

Actually, there is no joy in that. My sweet DB has brought me another gift of passing on his cold. Just as he starts feeling better... I begin to get sick. Unfortunately I don't have near as fast bounce back time as he does. So right now I am currently occupying my time between the internet, working on crochet and knitting projects, and catching up on my DVR programs. A shout out to those who invented the DVR, without which I would never be able to be up to date on my tv series that I love so much.

One of my iguanas. Her name is Wolfe. I adopted her in 1999. She is now 18 years old. Quite an old girl but still has a lot of personality to her. During the warmer months she loves to go outside and eat petunias and sunbathe.

This is Athena. She is an 8 1/2 year old female ball python. She loves to soak in her water bowl for a week at a time. She is the more mischievous of my ball pythons. She has gotten stuck console of my car when she was barely a year old. She also escaped out of her house and took up residence behind the dishwasher, because it was warm back there, for about 3 months. She also loves to climb and roam the house when she is let out.
